CEO Message: Update on Qiuqiu’s New Home
Two years ago, ICC’s China Operations Director, Kyla Alexander, found Qiuqiu wrapped in blankets on the roadside, abandoned. She dutifully took him to the Chinese authorities, hoping that one day the toddler would come into ICC’s care. Last year that hope became a reality.
Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, Qiuqiu and his ‘brothers’ have moved into a new home at our Hengyang Care Centre this Spring. Your kind donations are transforming lives. The new home is complete and new lives are being built.
Now, along with seven other children, Qiuqiu has moved into a loving family-style group home, where he is receiving daily therapy and treatment for seizures. When he first joined his new family, it took awhile for Qiuqiu to get used to all the activity and people; prior to coming to ICC he had been mostly left by himself with little attention. Now, he is receiving cuddles and love and he’s starting to smile a lot!
Two other boys in the Woodpecker family home are also gaining confidence and starting to smile. Before entering ICC’s care Qianqian and Fufu had never played with toys. They were solemn and withdrawn. Now they are playing with toys, interacting with others and enjoying life!
There are many other children who need your support. Our Hand-in-Hand Sponsorship Programme provides daily and medical care, therapy and education to hundreds of children. Each one of them needs sponsors who care about them.
If you already sponsor a child, you know how your contribution is helping them achieve fulfilling lives. If you’ve never sponsored one of our children, I ask you to consider it now. It’s a great way to have an impact on a precious life, and to experience how they can touch your life.
